Custom Design Process - Residential Custom Replica

How do you take the dream of a fun-filled, creative playhouse (or play village) and turn it into a dynamic and activity-filled reality? Lilliput Play Homes has been helping families and businesses do just that for over 20 years. Watch as three projects develop from a heartfelt dream into a unique and creative play space.

Residential Custom Replica

One of the most fun design projects for us is assisting parents (and grandparents) in their dream to create a miniature replica of their home for the children. Many parents see this creation as a combination playhouse and focal point for their backyard.

Over the years, we have designed these miniature replica playhouses in a variety of architectural styles: Tudor, Spanish, Colonial, Federal, Contemporary, Victorian…you name it, we've built it!

Playhouse

Several years ago, we were contacted by parents who wanted us to create a miniature replica for their two young children.

Their home was itself fashioned after one of the grand mansions in Newport, RI, complete with two-story tower, slate roof, cupola, balustrades, ornate corbels, and much more.

The more we talked with the parents, the more fun we all started having! This was going to be a masterpiece!

Our original floorplan had not included the round tower, but when the parents gave us a tour of the house and their own tower, we knew this element had to be included in the playhouse version. Incorporating the fun and ingenuity of the parent's tower, the playhouse's tower features a secret loft accessed through a sliding bookshelf from the main loft. Once in the secret loft, you can relax and avoid intruders or slide down the fire pole into yet another secret room and exit via a hidden backdoor. If all this fun and intrigue sounds like a script straight out of the movies, you're right! The dad is a movie aficionado and is sharing his passion and playfulness along to this children. What a wonderful legacy to pass on to future generations.
